Grondijs, Harrie: Steinitz with Zukertort (number 10 of 75 numbered copies signed by author, one of 10 copies with the kvm logo in the Impressum).
Rijswijk, self-edition, 2006, 1st edition, photos and illustrations in text, English, 254p. 670 gramù. Orig. hardcover. Large 8vo (23-25 cm). 75 numbered copies. Fine in very good dust jacket: book has no flaws, it is like new. The dust jacket is slightly rubbed in one place and slightly bent at margins. From the dust jacket: This book was written and composed with the help of many newspaper chess columns of the last quarter of the 19th century, somewhat obscured sources which have not been consulted by chess historians until now. The book is composed of two pieces. The first piece is an annotated account written by Steinitz about the alleged score of an offhand game that he lost to Walter Grimshaw. The second piece reconstructs the tour of Northern America that Zukertort undertook in 1884, which also happened to be the first full year of Steinitz in the U.S.A. It retraces Zukertorts visits to many American (including Canadian) cities from newspaper reports and presents a large collection of the games that Zukertort played on his tour, many of which have never been reprinted so far. (Edition only 75 numbered copies, signed by author, in 3 variations - 40 copies as the basic edition, 10 copies with numbers 10-14, 16-20 are the same but with a color logo of our bookshop in the Impressum. The 3rd variation has the kwabc logo in impressum, has numbers 51-75 and its text is slightly different comparing to first 50 copies.
