Title: The Modern Anti-Sicilian 1.e4 c5 2.a3!? |
|
White plays 3.b4 against almost any answer of Black. The idea is to play the Sicilian gambit, which is not very good in its original form 1.e4 c5 2.b4 cxb4 3.a3 because of 3..d5!. The main line, 200+ pages is 2..Nc6 3.b4 cxb4 4.axb4 Nxb4 5.d4 (5..d5 6.c3 Nc6 7.exd5 Qxd5 8.Na3). Author analyses also 2..e6 3.b4 (3..cxb4 4.axb4 Bxb4 5.Bb2), then 2..d6 3.b4 and also 2..g6 3.b4. The other chapters deal 2.a3 d5 (or other 2nd moves of Black) and 2.a3 Nf6 3.e5 Nd5 4.Nc3. The line 2.a3!? has been examined by Alexei Bezgodov 10 years ago, however the Soloviov book is considerably updated and enlarged. The book contains both analysis and word explanations. the line 2.a3 is an intersting possibility for players who want avoid the main Sicilian lines. It is in the repertoire of GMs Bezgodov, Dobrov, Mamedyarov, T. L. Petrosian, Chernyshov or Ermenkov. Further information about the book and a sample are available at chess-stars.com
