Title: Smerdon’s Scandinavian |
|
Scandinavian from Black’s point of view. The author examines especially the sharp variations, which he himself plays for years: the Portuguese complex arising after 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.d4 Bg4 (ca 250 pages), then the Icelandic gambit 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.c4 e6 (ca 40p) and Panov-Botvinnik Attack 3.c4 c6 4.d4. The other chapters examine the lines 2..Nf6 3.Nf3 Bg4 (ca 50p), 2..Nf6 3.Bb5+ (ca 30p) and also sidelines of White in the 2nd and 3rd move like 2.Nc3, 3.Nc3, 2.d4!? or 2.e5?! (together ca 60p). GM David Smerdon has represented his country at six chess Olympiads, and played board one for the Australian team at the 2012 and 2014 Olympiads.
