Title: Spasitel Aljechina. Sudba i shakhmatnoe nasledie Yakova Vilnera |
|
(Alekhine’s savior. The Fate and Chess Heritage of Yakov Vilner). Yakov Vilner, 1899-1931, was 4x Ukrainian champion, he played several times in Soviet championships. The book contains his biography, 55 deeply annotated games, 40 selected problems with annotated solutions, crosstables, more than 40 photos etc. The book title shows to the fact that Vilner saved Alexander Aljechin from being shot by writing a letter to the President of the Ukrainian People's Commissioners. So far this has been referred to as an unproven story, now the author is proving it in the book by documentary evidence. Sergei Tkachenko is chess historian and GM in chess composition.
