Title: Geniales Schach im Wiener Kaffeehaus 1750-1918 |
|
The book focuses on the history of chess in Vienna and Viennese cafés from the middle of the 18th century until 1918. There are only a few games in the book but it contains many interesting information and photografies that would be hard to find from other sources. The contents of the book and more about the author can be found in pictures 2 and 3. The annexes include a list of about 50 Viennese chess cafes that existed between 1750-2005 including addresses, and 25 crosstables of the most important tournaments played in Vienna in 1873-1923. Detailed bibliography at the end. Michael Ehn lives in Vienna - he is a renowned chess historian, author of several successful books.
