(How Victor became a chess master). The only story written by Emanuel Lasker and his last book at the same time. Lasker wrote the book in 1937 in his Russian exil, just one month before he moved to the Netherlands and USA. The manuscript was in German, however the first edition was in Russian in 1973, in an authorized translation of I. Maiselis. The hero of the book written for young people is a boy Viktor (in original manuscript called Vanja) and his way to chess mastership. It is a story with no games. The book appears also in German, with title Wie Wanja Meister wurde, 2001. Series Bibliotechka shakhmatista.
