(In English known as The Zaitsev System) The Zaitsev System in the Ruy Lopez is characterized by 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.0-0 Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 d6 8.c3 0-0 9.h3 Bb7 10.d4 Re8. The book is written for Black repertoire, however the author explains plans and ideas of both sides. GM Kuzmin plays this line since 1980s when he was in the Karpov's team for preparation against Kasparov. Later he was a second of Morozevich, who also plays this line. After 11.Nbd2 Bf8, the main lines 12.a4, 12.a3, 12.d5 and 12.Bc2 are examined in separate chapters. Author also analyzes the sidelines in the 11th and 12th moves of White as well as so-called Saratov variation, which is based on early exchange on d4 (11..exd4 12.cxd4 Bf6) - by this way Black can avoid repetition of moves after 11.Ng5 Rf8 12.Nf3.
