Munich 1942 was one of the strongest tournaments during the wws. The winner was Alekhine 8.5 of 11, ahead of Keres, Foltys, Bogoljubov, Kurt Richter, Barcza, Junge, Rellstab, Stoltz, Rohacek, Napolitano, Rabar. The tournament was organized as the 1st European Chess Championship. Two books on the tournament were published during the war but both only gave selections of the games. The book of well known chess historian Tony Gillam presents all games (but one) of the tournament, many deeply annotated and in addition, about 65 games from the qualification tournay.
