The book covers the history of the Hastings Christmas Tournaments from 1895, when Pillsbury surprisingly won, to the present day. FM Juergen Brustkern has been visiting Hastings regularly since 1977. He is an expert on Hastings chess history and together with his compatriot he describes the history of this oldest traditional tournament in the world with 79 selected deeply annotated games and many interesting facts. They also provide medallions of forty of the most colourful participants. Over the years 11 world champions have participated in Hastings tournaments, starting with Steinitz, and 3 women's world champions (Vera Menchik, Nona Gaprindashvili, Judit Polgar). Several indexes.
