This title is contemporarily sold out. Again expected in April 2026. The Benko Gambit, also known as the Volga Gambit, arises after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5. In this first book of a two-volume set, the authors examine the Benko Gambit Accepted 4.cxb5 a6 in great detail. The book is written mainly for Black repertoire and all of White's options from the 5th move onwards are discussed. In addition to detailed theoretical analyses and explanations of the plans and ideas in each variation, the book also provides an overview of the type positions and an analysis of the 300 endgames arising from this opening. The main popularizer of the gambit was the Hungarian-American Grandmaster Pal Benko (1928-2019), who used it with great success since the 1960s. The opening was probably first played in the game Thorvaldsson-Vaitonis, Munich 1936. The second part will contain lines where White plays other than 4.cxb5. 2 pictures.
