Another original book of well known chess historian Tony Gillam presents the strong tournament in Manchester 1890. Detailed history of the tournament with a lot of information hardly available from other sources, inclusive those from the backstage like personal rivalries, which player had a drink problem, who sued Gunsberg and why etc. The book contains all known games - 190 were played - with deep notes, accompanied with photos, games of the 5th British Amateur Championship, and index of players in the end. 20 players round robin, the winner was Tarrasch with 15.5 of 19, followed by Blackburne, Mackenzie, Bird, Mason, Gunsberg etc. Series Rare and Unpublished Tournaments and Matches 89.
