|
(The Grandmasters. The Golden Age of Polish Chess). Pre-war Poland belonged to the strongest chess countries. In 1930, Poland won the gold medal at the Hamburg chess olympiads. The winning team Rubinstein, Tartakower, Przepiorka, Makarczyk and Frydman was renamed by German press to Bombenmannschaft. Autor writes about the fate of Polish chess players of this time and describes the chess life in Poland between the wars. The book is accompanied by many phoitos, however it contains only a few games. Unfortunately, the Golden era of Polish chess ended with beginning of the wws.
