The author shows the beauty of endgame studies, explains the terms and themes, and shares his own experiences in composing and solving endgame studies. This first part contains more than 100 studies, all annotated in detail. In the final section, he offers about 70 studies to solve on twelve common themes such as domination, fortress, combination, etc. The book was also published in Russian under title Shakhmatny etyud kak iskusstvo. Oleg Pervakov, born in 1960, is a Grandmaster for chess composition, four times World Champion in composing studies. He has composed about 500 studies, about 400 of which have been awarded in competitions. Pervakov is the author or co-author of several books, including Oleg Pervakov’s Industrial Strength Endgame Studies or Studies for practical players (with Mark Dvoretsky)
