The book consists from more than 20 articles - lectures of noted chess historians presented at the conference at Polish Kornik in September 2002. All articles are devoted to the chess player, writer, chess historian and collector Tassilo von Heydebrand und von der Lasa (1818-1899). Although von der Lasa did not play official tournaments, he was one of strongest players of his time - in unofficial matches he won against top players inclusive Anderssen. In the book is also 176 games by von der Lasa played in 1830s - most of them unpublished before. About a half of lectures is in English and about a half is in German
