Taimanov Sicilian for the Black repertoire. This dynamic and popular opening is after initial 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 followed by d4 characterized with Black moves Nc6, e6, Qc7. Just then Black plays a7-a6 while the move d7-d6 is played rarely or never. Various move orders are possible, like 2..e6 and 4..Nc6, or 2..Nc6, 4..e6. The authors prefer 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Qc7. The main lines, analysis of which take most place, are 6.Be2 and the English Attack 6.Be3, Qd2 and 0-0-0. However, all continuations of White are examined - 6.f4, 6.Be3, 6.Bd3, 6.g3 as well as sidelines in the 6th and 5th moves. The third author is Robert Markus.
