The book, which is without games, describes Morphy's career from the beginning until 1859, when he returned to the US from a visit to Europe. Frederick Edge was Morphy's secretary during his European tour. The book was first published in 1959, and this reprint contains 12 additional photographs and illustrations, plus some grammatical corrections. At the end of the book is added a reprint of the booklet Paul Morphy - His Later Life by C. A. Buck, which deals with Morphy's life after his return to the USA and the end of his chess career.
