The book contains all three world championship matches between Botvinnik and Smyslov in 1954, 1957 and 1958. A total of 69 games were played in these matches (24 + 22 + 23), almost all of them are annotated in detail, mainly by Botvinnik, but also by Smyslov and other players. The second part of the book is the Botvinnik-Petrosian world championship match from 1963. Interestingly, no book was published in the Soviet Union after the match. Here are all 22 games of the match after which Petrosian became world champion (he won 12.5 : 9.5). Sixteen games are with contemporary notes by both players, the others with analyses by other masters. There are also games the two played together earlier, and much other material. Books of the Botvinnik-Smyslov and Botvinnik-Petrosian matches have previously been published separately; this is the first collected edition.
