It contains general knowledge about opening, middlegame and endgame, but also includes a lot of specific strategic ideas, various types of combinations, plans of attack and correct endgame play. The examples given are always very instructive and mostly unfamiliar to the modern reader. In addition to the explanation, the book also contains several hundred annotated games. The individual chapters are titled 1. Strategia, 2. Kombinatsia, 3. Teoria endshpilya, 4. O problemakh debyuta i mittelshpilya. Aleksander Koblents (Koblencs, Koblenz) 1916-1993 was 4x champion of Latvia in the 1940s, won the 1937 International tournament in Brno, and is also known as a successful trainer and author - he coached Mikhail Tal from 1955-1979. The original edition of this book was published in 1962 in Russian in Riga and is rarely seen today.
