The volume consists of two works, originally published in 1828 and 1829. Rirst of them contains 5 correspondence games London versus Edinburgh, played between 1824-1828. Compared to the other books of the time, four of these games are annotated in detail. The second work is in original 11-page booklet titled Remarks of the Report of the Committee of the Edinburgh Chess Club, containing the Games of the Match at Chess played between the London and Edinburgh Chess Club. The author William Lewis (1787-1870) was strong player, noted chess teacher and writer in the 19th century. Series The Collected Works of William Lewis, Volume III.
