The book contains a detailed biography of legendaty Rolf Martens and a total of about 100 annotated games, 25 of which are Martens' ones. Martens' name is associated with many of the extravagant openings, which are analyzed in the book on 200 pages, such as Kamchatka, Pawn Indian, Kreti, Snake Benoni, The Scorpion, Science Straight Benoni, Shirazi/Brohinka Sicilian, Gaw Paw, The Cobra, Space French, Norwegian Rat Defence etc. This theoretical section contains about 75 annotated games by various players. Several indexes. Rolf Martens, 1942-2008, was a strong player, at the age of 25 he became Swedish champion. In the Student Team Championship 1967 he beat Vlastimil Hort, one of the ten highest rated players in the world. A few years later he left chess and devoted himself to political activities on the far left. When his chess mood returned it was as an analyzer and has most probably given name to more openings than anybody else in chess history. 2 pictures
