Title: Forgotten Genius: The Life and Games of Grandmaster Albin Planinc |
|
Biography and 85 deeply annotated games. Albin Planinc, 1944-2008, was a Slovenian grandmaster, the 1968 and 1971 Slovenian champion. For his precise style he is sometimes called the Slovenian chess Mozart. Planinc achieved his best results in the first half of the 1970s, when his performance was equal to that of the world's top players. For example, in the Amsterdam 1973 IBM tournament, he shared 1st place with Petrosian (10 of 15) ahead of Kavalek, Spassky, Andersson, Smejkal, Timman and other grandmasters. 4 pictures.
